  1. RBI signs MoU with Banco Central do Brasil on info exchange
    • The Reserve Bank of India has signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and exchange of information with Banco Central do Brasil (BCB).
    • With this RBI has signed 23 such MoUs, one letter for supervisory cooperation and one statement of cooperation with overseas regulators or supervisors, the central bank said.
    • The MoU was signed by Anthero de Moraes Meirelles, Deputy Governor for Supervision, BCB and S S Mundra, Deputy Governor, RBI.
  2. Chandigarh launches Smart City app
    • In the first major step towards making Chandigarh a “Smart City,” the city administration launched its “official mobile app”.
    • It is created for awareness of consumer rights and responsibilities and provides all types of citizen-centric and public utility services and information to the residents.
    • The app was now available free at Google Play store for Android phone users. Its iOS and Windows Phone versions would be released soon.
    • Important addresses, contacts, helpline numbers and e-mail ids of the consumer forum and various departments of the Chandigarh Administration are available on the app.
  3. Hockey Olympian Jaswant Singh Rajput passes away
    • Two-time gold medal winning hockey Olympian Jaswant Singh Rajput passed away on Wednesday morning following a prolonged illness.
    • He was 88. The former India centre-half was part of the gold medal winning teams in 1948 London and 1952 Helsinki Olympics.
  4. Kalyan Singh takes oath as Governor of Himachal Pradesh
    • Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh was today sworn in as the Himachal Pradesh Governor.
    • Singh has been given an additional charge of Himachal Pradesh after Urmila Singh, who completed the full five year term as HP Governor on January 24 was given a warm send off at the Raj Bhawan yesterday as she left for Raipur.
    • Born on January 5, 1932, at Village Madholi in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh, Kalyan Singh was elected as member of Uttar Pradesh Assembly six times consecutively from 1967 and also served as Chief Minister on two occasions.

  5. Gujarat Technological University launches e-Raksha centre to fight cybercrime
    • With an aim to curb rising menace of cybercrimes, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has launched e-Raksha Research Centre that will encourage research and enhance capability to provide solution for issues related to cyber security.
    • The centre will also support ‘Make in India’ concept by manufacturing routers, switches, firewalls, UTMs (Unified Threat Management) and other network appliances.
