- Surender Singh takes over as new CISF chief
- Senior IPS officer Surender Singh took over as the new director general of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
- He succeeds Arvind Ranjan, a 1977-batch IPS officer of Kerala cadre who retired on Thursday.
- He is the 25th director general of CISF, will remain in office till August 2016.
- Canara Bank ties up with insurers
- Canara Bank has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Life Insurance Corporation of India for offering the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojanainsurance cover to all its eligible customers.
- According to the MoU, LIC will offer a life cover of ₹2 lakh in case of death of the insured person at a nominal premium of ₹330 per annum.
- The bank has also partnered with the United India Insurance Company for offering the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana insurance cover.
- All savings bank account holders in age group of 18 to 50 years can avail themselves of product.
- Seychelles to become 161st WTO member
- A 19-year-long process for Seychelles to become a member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) came to an end yesterday when the island nation’s Minister for Finance Trade and Investment Pierre Laporte signed the accession protocol.
- Seychelles also became the 33rd government to accede to the rules-based multilateral trading system through Article XII negotiations since the WTO was established in 1995.
- CRPF to adopt village in earthquake-hit Nepal
- Extending a helping hand to the victims of the devastating earthquake in Nepal, paramilitary force CRPF has decided to adopt a village in the Himalayan country
- The CRPF has decided to adopt Karikat village near Birganj in Nepal to provide people immediate relief and help in its reconstruction.
