The ASIAN games 2014 is also called 17th ASIAD happened in Incheon, a city of South Korea between September 19 to October 4, 2014. The motto of the games was “Diversity Shines Here”. In the final medal tally, China stood first followed by South Korea at second place and Japan at third.

Mascot
Three Harbour Seal siblings Barame, Chumuro and Vichuan was the official mascot of the games. The three seals Barame, Chumuro and Vichuan meaning wind, dance and light in Korean language.
India at ASIAN Games
Sardar Singh, the captain of India’s hockey team was flag bearer of India in the games. After 16 years India won gold in men’s hockey tournament and earned the direct place to the 2016 Summer Olympics going to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. India ended the campaign in eighth position with total of 57 medals (11 gold, 10 silver and 36-bronze). In 2010 ASIAN games at Delhi, India won 65 medals (14 gold, 17 silver and 34 bronze) and stood at 6th position. Nevertheless there were moments to cheer in this edition.
