The Delhi Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced Mukhyamantri Muft Sewer Connection Yojana to provide free sewer connections. The households will be connected to Delhi’s existing sewer network through the free sewer connections. The waste generated will be transported to the sewage treatment plant in Yamuna Vihar.
The government’s vision is to clean Yamuna by 2025 and to provide round-the-clock clean drinking water to the people of Delhi.
Objective of Mukhyamantri Muft Sewer Connection Yojana
The goal of providing a free sewer connection is to keep sewage from entering the Yamuna River. These colonies’ sewer connections will help to prevent 2.5 crore litres of untreated waste from entering the Yamuna River.
Mukhyamantri Muft Sewer Connection Yojana Features
- The government will provide free sewer connections to 25,000 households in East Delhi.
- It will provide free sewer connections to 12 colonies in Mustafabad, Karawal Nagar, Chandu Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, and parts of Khajuri Khas will be among the colonies.
- The state government has set aside Rs 19 crore for the construction of these connections.
