- Good Governance Day to Mark Vajpayee’s Birthday
- The nation is observing its second ‘Good Governance Day’ on the birth anniversary of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 25th December.
- Observing the Good Governance Day, BJP Karnataka will carry out Swacch Bharat campaign and activity all across Karnataka.
- On the occasion, Bharatiya Janata Party MPs and party office bearers will visit different areas to highlight the work done by the NDA Government for the betterment of the poor and youth of the country.

- CM Arvind Kejriwal unveils blueprint of odd-even formula
- Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday formally unveiled the blueprint for the introduction of the Odd Even Formula, for vehicles that will ply in the city and those coming in from the National Capital Region (NCR) from January 1 to January 15, 2016.
- It will be effective from 8 a.m to 8 p.m the violators would be fined Rs. 2000. The formula would not be applicable on Sundays.
- The Delhi Chief Minister also informed that the vehicles of the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Speaker of Lok Sabha, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha, Governors of states/ Lt Governor, Chief Justice of India, Union Ministers, Leaders of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, Chief Ministers of states except Delhi, judges of Supreme Court and High Court, Lokayukta will be exempted from the odd-even rule.
- The emergency vehicles, ambulance, fire, hospital, prison, hearse, enforcement vehicles, vehicles of paramilitary forces, Ministry of Defence, pilot and escort, vehicles of SPG protectees, vehicles bearing diplomatic corps registration numbers and those on way to hospital for a medical emergency carrying proof, would also be exempted from this rule.
- CNG and electric vehicles are also exempt. Two-wheelers and Vehicles driven by or occupied by handicapped persons and Female driver are also exempt.
- U.N. Designates Nov. 5 as World Tsunami Awareness Day
- The U.N. General Assembly has adopted a Japanese-led resolution to designate Nov. 5 as World Tsunami Awareness Day.
- The tsunami day designation is aimed at raising awareness among people in the world of the dangers of tsunami and stressing the importance of early warning systems in order to mitigate damage.
- Moves to set the world tsunami day fully began after the third U.N. World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in March in Sendai, one of the areas hit hardest by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
- Syed Kirmani nominated for CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award
- BCCI announced on Thursday that former Indian wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani was nominated for the Col. C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for 2015.
- He played 88 Tests and 49 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) between 1976 and 1986.
- The BCCI celebrates the birth centenary of C.K. Nayudu, the country’s first Test captain, by instituting an annual Lifetime Achievement Award to honour individuals for their unparalleled contribution to Indian cricket, on and off the field. The award comprises a trophy, citation and cheque for Rs.25 lakhs.
- ‘Atal Setu’: North India’s first cable-stayed bridge opened in Jammu and Kashmir
- The Basohli bridge is the fourth of its kind in India. The other three cable-stayed bridges are–Hooghly bridge at Kolkata, Naini bridge in Allahabad and Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link in Mumbai.
- With the bridge thrown open, connectivity and tourism among the three states are expected to improve.
- Modi inaugurates new Afghan Parliament built by India in Kabul
- Prime Minister Modi received a warm embrace and welcome by Afghan president Ashraf Ghani in Kabul where he arrived on Friday for delegation-level bilateral talks and for inaugurating the new Afghan Parliament building.
- The Prime Minister also addressed the two houses
- The Parliament building project, initially conceived to cost 45 million, was started by India in 2007 as a mark of friendship and cooperation to help rebuild Afghanistan.
- Sadhana, Bollywood star and style icon, passes away at 74
- Sadhana, the actor who reigned over Bollywood as its style icon for many years, passed away in Mumbai on December 25 after a brief illness
- The exact nature of her illness is yet to be ascertained. The veteran actress was 74 when she breathed her last at a Mumbai hospital.
- The yesteryear’s beauty, who enthralled masses with her graceful performances in Hindi films in the 60s and 70s, had retired from public life long back
- Sadhana was known for films like Love in Simla, Parakh, Hum Dono, Waqt, Woh Kaun Thi. She was married to Love in Simla director Ramkrishna Nayyar who passed away in 1995
- Tech Mahindra Launches NFC-Based Digital Wallet MoboMoney
- Tech Mahindra Ltd. on Wednesday launched India’s first NFC-based digital payment ecosystem, MoboMoney, an application to simplify and enhance the customers’ payment experience by simple “Tap n Pay”.
- MoboMoney is a prepaid wallet issued in the form of an NFC (Near-Field Communication) tag that frees the user from the hassle of carrying cash.
- The NFC technology allows radio communication between two NFC enabled devices and the tag is a small sticker type chip that works on the NFC technology. This tag is linked to the MoboMoney account.
