- Pakistan Taliban: Peshawar school attacked; leaves 141 dead
- Militants from the Pakistani Taliban have attacked a school in Peshawar, killing 141 people, 132 of them children.
- A Taliban spokesman told BBC Urdu that the school, which is run by the army, had been targeted in response to army operations.

- Reliance MediaWorks sells Big Cinemas to Carnival Films
- Carnival Films Pvt. Ltd, backed by a Kochi-based commodity trader, has agreed to acquire a 100% stake in multiplex operator Big Cinemas, a division of tycoon Anil Ambani’s Reliance MediaWorks Ltd, for around Rs.700 crore.
- HDFC Bank launches mobile branch in Varanasi
- HDFC Bank launched mobile banking initiative to offer round-the-clock banking facility.
- “Part of the bank’s digital banking offering… ‘Bank Aap Ki Muththi Mein’ is technology agnostic and runs on all mobile devices popular technology platforms support,” said Nitin Chugh, Head-Digital Banking, HDFC Bank.
- ‘Bank Aap Ki Muththi Mein’ works on both smartphones as well as the basic phones that support Internet browsing.
- IRCTC tops 2014 Google search in India
- The Indian Railways’ official website, IRCTC, was most searched in Google by people in India in 2014.
- The search engine company Google has released the list of most searched and trending words.
- E-commerce website Flipkart, PSU lender SBI Online, e-tailer Snapdeal and PNR status were other most searched words.
- The most trending topic of 2014 in India was Election 2014, followed by FIFA 2014, iPhone 6, GATE 2015 and Narendra Modi.
- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe won comfortable re-election in a snap poll he had billed as a referendum on his economic policies.
