  1. Information and Broadcasting Ministry gets ISO 9001:2008 certification
    • The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has received an ISO 9001:2008 certification from the British Standards Institute in respect of various permissions and licences issued by it for the broadcasting and print media and films.
    • I&B Secretary Bimal Julka said the certification recognises the high standards maintained by the ministry, which it would strive to keep up.
  2. Zomato acquires US-based online table reservation service NexTable
    • Gurgaon-based restaurant discovery platform Zomato today acquired the US-based online table reservation platform NexTable for an undisclosed amount.
    • The platform will soon be renamed to Zomato Book.
    • NexTable enables customers to make restaurant reservations online in real time and includes table management and marketing tools for restaurants.
  3. Railway launches mobile app for paperless unreserved tickets
    • Moving ahead in line with digital India, railways has launched mobile application for paperless unreserved tickets.
    • Developed by Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) “utsonmobile” – the paperless unreserved ticketing feature in mobile application aims to eliminate the need for printing of unreserved tickets.
    • On a pilot basis, the paperless ticketing system in unreserved segment will cover 15 stations in the suburban section of Southern Railway.
  4. Dadasaheb Phalke Film Award 2015: Shah Rukh Khan Honoured for ‘Happy New Year’
    • Shah Rukh was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award 2015 for his performance in film “Happy New Year”.
    • Actor Rajkummar Rao won the prestigious award for his performance in the critically acclaimed film “Citylights”.

  5. Sports ministry suspends Paralympic Committee of India
    • The Union sports ministry on Wednesday suspended the recognition of the Paralympic Committee of India for the Ghaziabad National Para Athletics Championships fiasco.
    • The ministry cited poor management and conduct of the Nationals for suspending PCI and said an inquiry by Sports Authority of India had found that complaints about poor facilities for para-athletes at the March 20-22 event was “largely well-founded.”
