  1. India overtakes China in corporate governance rankings
    • India has emerged as the leader in global developing markets for having the clearest and most comprehensive policies on corporate governance.
    • India scored more than China; it is at par with Malaysia.
    • Australia ranking 4th across 25 markets globally and is at the 2nd spot in the Europe-Middle East-Asia ( EMA) market.
    • The study is jointly conducted by KPMG and ACCA.
  2. The Reserve Bank of India outlines guidelines for the Anywhere, anytime bill payment for all
    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday outlined the final guidelines for the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS).
    • BBPS envisages a central entity setting standards and rules, and a host of registered service providers who will aggregate biller information to facilitate anytime and anywhere bill payment.
    • An individual can collect all his bills — telephone, electricity, water supply, insurance, etc — and pay them through one window.

  4. The Centre will implement a ‘large number’ of legislative reforms recommended by the Financial Sector Legislative Reforms Commission (FSLRC) ‘in the days to come’, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said.
  5. Reserve Bank of India withdraws the 20:80 scheme
    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said the government had decided to withdraw the 20:80 scheme and other restrictions placed on import of gold.
    • As per the August 14, 2013 circular, the RBI had prohibited the import of gold in the form of coins and medallions.
  6. India-Australia first test match postponed
    • India and Australia was on Saturday pushed back to an unspecified date to let the players attend the late batsman Phillip Hughes’ funeral scheduled on Wednesday in his hometown whose tragic death left everyone shocked.
    • Cricket Australia (CA) said that it was neither feasible nor fair to begin the Test on December 4 as originally planned.
  7. Parliament clears Bill to amend labour laws
    1. Parliament on Friday cleared the Labour Laws (Exemption from Furnishing Returns and Maintaining Registers by Certain Establishments) (LLE) Amendment Bill, 2014
