  1. World’s first Dengue vaccine to be available by second half of 2015, said pharma major Sanofi
    • Company said the vaccine gives a 95.5 per cent protection against severe dengue and an 80.3 per cent reduction in the risk of hospitalization.

  3. Supreme court lifts the ban on women being employed as make-up artists in the film industry
    • SC ends a nearly six decade old ban saying that it was gender biased and should not continue for a day longer.
  4. Government appoints Hasmukh Adhia as new financial services secretary
    • Hasmukh Adhia was principal secretary to Narendra Modi during his stint as chief minister.
    • He replaces Gurdial Singh Sandhu, who has been shifted out as chairman, National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention.
    • Adhia belongs to the 1981 batch, was till now working as additional chief secretary, finance department, in the Gujarat government.

    • The US will partner Vibrant Gujarat Summit, 2015 going to take place in January 2015.
    • US became the eighth nation to partner the summit along with Japan, Canada, UK, Holland, Australia, Singapore and South Africa.
